We recently helped a customer design a sofa that incorporated antique suzani fabric into a modern sofa.  Suzani, a style of fabric from Central Asia, often has elaborate needlework.  Our customer’s fabric was no exception.

To create this sofa, we had to reinforce the fabric — since suzanis are sewn by hand, it isn’t the ideal fabric to work with.  After reinforcing the fabric with double-needle stitching, our sewing team created the seat and back cushion covers.  Using premium materials, including poly/down seat cushions and down backs, the sofa has a luxurious feel.

The outsides of the sofa was upholstered in a distressed leather and accented by nailheads.  Combining an antique, handmade fabric with a contemporary frame style resulted in a stunning sofa.
